Our Process

From mylk to mayo, our products require a unique mixture of culinary arts and science to make something that is natural, safe, fresh, and delicious.

And with our unprecedented access to distribution channels across India, you can get everything you need in just one place: your doorstep!

Sourcing

We source our peanuts and cashews from Karnataka, as well as Tamil Nadu. We also use ingredients that are locally procured wherever possible.

We know that products are only as good as their ingredients. A good analogy for this would be the 'bad apple spoils the barrel' concept: if one ingredient spoils, the whole batch does, too.

We choose our suppliers based on their reputation and track record so we know they'll deliver the highest performing ingredients every time we manufacture our products.

Manufacturing facilities

Our production facilities are located all over the country.

After so much trial and error, we know that so much of the product quality depends on the factory. Every factory comes with its own unique machinery, features, and work culture.

We have built strong relationships with quality facilities that also understand our mission-driven work.

Ultimately, we believe that flawless execution of our plant-based products is what makes them so highly recommended by our customers!

Processing

Plant-based dairy requires different upstream processes than traditional dairy, so we have installed machines we own at facilities that we own to guarantee its success.

Our processing is similar to animal dairy processing in many respects. For example, our curd isn’t shelf stable. That’s a good thing, because it’s probiotic. We don’t use acid to curdle the mylk. Instead, we use a carefully controlled strain of good bacteria that convert our mylk into the desi curd that you love!

We add flavour, stabilisers and fortificants to our products in order to ensure they maintain the desired qualities. Like dairy, we heat-treat our products to kill off harmful bacteria. This is done before packaging, and either UHT (ultra high temperature) or pasteurisation to make products safe!

Packaging

We take the safety and long-term durability of our products seriously. So we select materials for packaging that are lightweight, minimise waste, ensure compatibility with shelf stability requirements, and make sure they're recyclable when they reach the end of their life cycle, all while ensuring an optimal consumer experience is smooth throughout.

In the food industry, we are responsible for a lot of waste. By using recyclable materials, we can do our part to make sure that all this waste is being properly dealt with.

However, the truth is that most of these packages do not make it to a recycling plant since large scale infrastructure is not yet ready for this. As an environmentally friendly company, we feel the pain of the layers of plastic in our packaging.

We rely on various metrics to decide if a product is earth-friendly (our products themselves are friendlier to the environment since they have fewer emissions & put less pressure on the planet).

What about glass?

Glass packaging comes with it’s own issues - it’s harder to distribute, unsafe to handle, takes the same amount of emissions as plastic packaging and makes things more expensive!

So we’ve taken an oath to always provide fresh and environmentally friendly plant-based alternatives, irrespective of the packaging constraints.
